 About Mark:

Originally from London, but calling Suffolk home for the last twenty years, Mark has been taking photographs for more than 3 decades. His photography has been published in a variety of media including newspapers, magazines, business literature, advertising, as book covers and more, both in the UK and overseas.
In more recent times his preference is to use photography as a means of expression, as art. His goal is to express an emotional connection with the subject, a story, to extend a mood, atmosphere or feeling as well as form.

His work is predominantly themed around animals, nature and the landscape, having been a big part of his life. These elements are his inspiration and loves nothing more than to spend time amongst them. Mark started photographing horses in the late 90’s on a visit to the New Forest. Fascinated by horses, he finds their character, behaviours, majestic form truly captivating and as such, a constant source of interest and focus in his work. Receiving local press coverage and a BBC Radio Suffolk interview for his exhibition “Spiritus Equus the collections” and being awarded an Honorary Spider Fellow at the 7th annual International Black and White Spider Awards for his image “Sparring Partners” was very welcome recognition of that work.

Although he does still work in colour, Mark's preference is black and white…
“For me monochrome strips away any distractions you may get from colour, which in turn I believe accentuates feelings and emotions in an image, and it's these elements I try to convey in my work”
